There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den gambling is not permitted. Eight gambling dens are situated in a relatively tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect destination, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; although, financial sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 17:00, and although visas are supposedly needed to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is true of many borders.

The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of 150 slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the normal tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around resort and hotel building that contains numerous comforts on top of the gambling den, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 tables.
