There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which casino wagering is banned. Eight gambling dens are situated in a relatively small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect area, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are apparently required to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of many borders.
The original Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship casino, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machine games and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around vacation and hotel compound that highlights many comforts aside from the gambling den, which houses 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight gaming tables.
