There is an appealing story to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just across the border from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall wagering is banned. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime spot, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital acquired from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of controls requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; although, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are allegedly required to pass, there are means around this, as is accurate of many borders.
The original Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked boat gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 60 gaming tables. The Naga river boat is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the normal gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel complex that contains a number of amenities in addition to the gambling hall, which houses 10,000 square feet of 130 slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
